Fawnstar was born with the blood of her clan in her veins and the soul of its spirit. While deeply driven by passion and honesty, these characteristics will cause her to lead more with her heart than her head. It is not her first instinct to be an optimist, however being considerate and thoughtful as to the needs and desires of her clan keep her upbeat and opportunistic, ready to do whatever is needed for the good of Windclan. Not completely fearless, Fawnstar is fierce and will openly speak her mind and opinions on hot-ticket topics, taking a stance on what she judges is right rather than easy. She is a dependable and loyal friend, and would go to the ends of the earth to provide comfort or support to her friends and fellow Windclanners. Although she may propose questions, she wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice herself for another. Fawnstar, while deeply passionate about and for others, keeps her own needs, wants, secrets, feelings and thoughts, and general ongoings deeply guarded.
She has a difficult time opening up to others about her life and how she's doing, a characteristic driven into her due to her training from her mentor, and her time spent as a deputy more concerned about the welfare of her clan and leader. Fawnstar isn't a very mysterious lady, but rather she keeps her walls up and harbors paranoia and fears of letting anyone remain personally close to her. She feels a strong bond to her former apprentices and blood-related kin but even keeps those relations at bay. She has a deep urge to love and be loved but doesn't allow herself to form those genuine connections.
Alpinewhisker and Pheasantfur were two up and coming hunters, each as equally skilled as the other. And growing as apprentices, the two were naturally apt at hunting, and because of it, they resented one another for stealing their thunder. In their youth, the two would compete against each other to bring in the most, the heaviest, and the most dangerous of prey, growing green with envy if their prizes were eaten less than the other's. But as the two aged into warriors, the two began to bond over their talent over time spent during border patrols and shared mentoring lessons. Soon, they would bring in freshkill together, priding each other over their speed, agility, wit, or whatever had gained their clan a good and hearty meal. Thus: a romance was born. After their first two years of having been warriors and mentors side-by-side, the two officially became a couple, but it wouldn't be until the year following that they conceived their first litter together. Their plan to start a family together had been an unexpected turn of events, but much desired nonetheless, and when their first two children were born, they were thrilled. While Pheasantfur retreated into the nursery, temporarily giving up her time as a hunter to become a mother, she found herself pleasantly surprised by her mate's thoughtfulness as he brought her daily meals. When their litter was born, they named their daughter Twigkit, and their son Owlkit, in honor of their tawny-colored pelts.
Enjoying their newly-fledged parenthood as their firstborn children rose to become apprentices, the couple decided to have a second litter once their daughter and son had earned their warrior names, seeing them through their training and teaching them their best tips and tricks to excel as hunters, should they find themselves so inclined to follow in the pawsteps of their parents, and become great hunters they did. When their warrior ceremonies arrived, they were named together, both given suffixes that matched their coats: Twigpaw became Twigtuft due to the dark brown splotch of fur on her chest, and Owlpaw became Owlbelly due to the creamy coloration of the fur on his stomach. As proud parents, within the following months, the two conceived their second litter as their first brood proved themselves worthy Windclanners. When Leaf-Fall came to pass, their litter was twice the size of their first, as both Alpinewhisker and Pheasantfur had both come from rather large families. This time around, they gave birth to two daughters and two sons: Fawnkit and Doekit, followed by Figkit and Rootkit. Shortly after the birth of their second litter, Pheasantfur was content with her bounty of offspring, and decided to return to her warrior responsibilities once more, while her next brood grows into warriors.
Fawnkit spent the first two months of her life curled into her mother's fur, blind and deaf to the world around her. But once her eyes opened, blue and unchanging with age, she instantly took to playing with her siblings in the den, bonding the most with her brother Figkit. Her elder siblings and father would visit often, bringing interesting treats and smells and tales of daily camp life and the histories of the other clans. Fawnkit took an immediate kinship with her birthclan, and at four moons of age, swore she would devote her love and life to Windclan, so long as they would have her, and would do her best to be the best Windclanner in history. In the two months that followed this vow, she listened more keenly to the stories woven through the gossip shared between the Queens, and began to wake early and sleep late so as to spend every minute preparing as best she could for her apprenticeship. The last two weeks before she turned six months of age were the most miserable, as Fawnkit was already eager and keen to learn and practice and interact with the rest of her clan. When the day finally arrived, the four children were brought to the front, her parents and siblings sitting proudly at the front of the crowd, and they were named together: Fawnpaw, Doepaw, Figpaw and Rootpaw.
When Fawnpaw became an apprentice, she was matched with Applefang to be her mentor. It was especially an honor to be paired with her, as her mentor was well-known and liked for her combat skills and technical skills that worked for both hunting and battle. Applefang was not only known for her skill and talent, she was known for her harsh outer-shell, strict and obedient to the warrior code, especially when it came to mentoring the youth of Windclan. Her days as an apprentice were spent grueling over tasks and long-hours from dawn until dusk training, shadowing on patrols, and repeating activities and lessons until she did things correctly each and every time. And yet, at the end of each day, still Fawnpaw endured and appreciated the knowledge and skills being passed down to her from her mentor. At long last, at thirteen moons of age, she was assessed and passed with flying colors, as did her siblings. From thereon out, she was called Fawnlight, so named for her driven, compassionate nature.
Her time as a warrior was spent in relative ease and peace. She was quick to seek out things for her to do, and would often volunteer herself to lead patrols. At twenty moons of age, she was given her first apprentice: Lizardpaw, a spunky sphynx molly. The beginning of their pairing was awkward as Fawnlight figured out how she would like to lead as example, as Applefang had for her, and then became ugly as the two butted heads over Lizardpaw struggled to find importance and need in her training. The two were paired until Lizardpaw was fourteen moons of age, and as the time had passed, the two had grown quite close and had a deep respect towards one another, and Lizardpaw was named a warrior at long last: Lizardbreeze, for her quick and agile hunting skills. Following her ceremony, their leader, Cedarstar, announced a new deputy after their current deputy had passed onto Starclan from old age: it was Fawnlight's very own mentor, Applefang.
Not long after Lizardbreeze had completed her training, Fawnpaw turned twenty-eight moons of age, and was given her second apprentice, Spiderpaw. Spiderpaw was a quiet, black-furred tom with wide amber eyes that constantly appeared to be in a perpetual state of fear and confusion. Despite her efforts and desire to assist him in his growth, it was of no use in the end: during a border patrol that she'd taken him along in, Shadowclan attacked. Fearful, Spiderpaw ran off in the midst of a battle towards thunderpath and was stricken down by a monster. Despite having attained significant wounds around her shoulders and flank, she felt the loss of her apprentice more so. In a state of mourning, she uncharacteristically sunk into herself and hid in the warriors den, scampering away from the rays of dawn and sun, until she was given her third apprentice at the age of 34 moons, a younger sibling of Spiderpaw: Beetlepaw. At first, she didn't care much for mentoring, believing she'd let him down and let him die the same way his older brother had. But after the first two moons of being paired together, she received a dream from Starclan in which she was visited by Spiderpaw, who'd not only forgiven her but told her to move on and assist his brother in a way he never could be. The following morning, she did just that. At thirty-eight moons of age, she picked up his training, hoping to train him just as well as Applefang had taught her, and how she'd trained Lizardbreeze.
That same month, their leader Cedarstar, had his ninth life taken from him during a rapid spread of greencough that swept through the forest, making Applefang their new leader. Following Applestar's return from mothermouth, she named Fawnlight her deputy. While surprised, Fawnlight was honored to hold such an esteemed and respected position in her clan. And yet, her time in that role was the most tumultuous period of her life. She was ecstatic for her former mentor and despite how much she adored and appreciated her, the two could never agree on how matters should be held. The result of constant battles and border skirmishes, negligence towards raging illnesses and natural disasters, war on all cats unaffiliated with the clans over the decisions of the twolegs that nested nearby, and many other controversial issues that arose made for a long-lasting impact on the clans (including foregoing attending any Gatherings and forbidding members of her clan to attend), with too many lives lost in the self-interest of the Windclan leader. It was a time of much division within the clan, as those who had supported Applestar the most began to lose faith in their leader, many of the windclanners seeking out new homes as rogues or within new clans. It was a broken time for Windclan as their numbers had dwindled drastically within the half year of Applestar's leadership, and the strength of the loyalty within had disappeared. Fawnlight desperately attempted to get her leader and former mentor to see reason, but it was of no use. A sudden rise of rogues and former Windclanners who'd bonded together planted a trap to see the fall of Applestar in order to replace their leader with a rogue, in exchange for the assistance in the overthrow. Those who had remained with Windclan through this point fought back, and came out victorious on the other side, but not without Applestar having lost her final life, leaving Fawnlight as the next leader at forty-four moons of age.
Fawnstar is still a newly-fledged leader within the most recent moon, and her first act was to banish all those who had risen up against Windclan. Her second act as leader was much overdue and instilled in her great pride, the warrior ceremony for her most recent apprentice Beetlepaw who'd fought valiantly on behalf of their clan and had shown great pride, strength and loyalty for Windclan, thus naming him: Beetlestrike. The clan is still suffering the repercussions of Applestar's leadership, and the battle with the outsiders is still fresh in the minds of the clan. Fawnstar hopes to bring about a new era for her beloved clan: a time of strength, unwavering loyalty and a time of peace. New threats are on the horizon for both Windclan and the forest alike, and though she awaits them with caution, she hopes to have her ongoings of her clan and leadership remain within her camp's borders, silent to the rest of the world beyond their home. The first gathering she attends as leader, she will be wary as to what information she gives and receives, and will need to share the news of Applestar's death.
